WHAT DOES A BLIND SPOT MONITOR DO?
At Patrick MINI, we have a goal to help our Schaumburg, IL customers get the most out of their vehicles. If you have a newer vehicle, then you probably have a host of advanced safety features at your fingertips, which include a blind spot monitor. But what is a blind spot monitor? Let’s find out below.
A blind spot monitor uses sensors to detect for vehicles that are in your blind spot zones. When a vehicle moves into your blind spot, then a blind spot monitor will issue a visual and audible alert. Most of the time, a visual alert will appear on the side mirror.
Drivers prefer to use blind spot monitors because they can significantly reduce the risk of a lane-change collision. The IIHS reported that injuries from lane-change accidents are reduced by 23 percent thanks to blind spot monitors. Moreover, blind spot monitors reduce lane-change collisions by 14 percent.
