It’s Time to Spring Service Your MINI
After a long season of cold temps, ice and snow, your car needs a little extra care. Say goodbye to winter and prepare for the warmer months with this easy car maintenance checklist.
Thoroughly Wash Your Car
The first thing you should do is give your MINI a thorough washing. Not only will this clear off the corrosive salt, mud and debris but it will also allow for you to inspect your vehicle for any new damage, both interior and exterior. Winter grime can wear down your MINI’s paint and clear coat which will cause damage to paint causing it to chip and rust. Be sure to get any new chips, dings and scratches fixed.
Don’t forget to blast your MINI’s undercarriage as well to avoid corroding of your exhaust system.
Schedule an Oil and Filter Change
Winter can be hard on engines causing the oil and filter to become dirty. A regularly scheduled oil change can help maintain a healthy engine. Learn more about the importance of regular oil changes in our blog – Why you Should Never Skip an Oil Change.
Schedule an oil change at the start of spring to help your engine all season long.
Replace Wiper Blades
If your wiper blades have spent months clearing away snow and ice, then the rubber strip on your blades has probably become less effective. If they are streaking or making noise while in use, it is time to get them replaced.
Make Sure your Tires are Road Ready
Make sure your tires are ready for wet streets. Keep your tires at their recommended pressure range. Underinflation causes tires to wear out and reduces gas mileage while overinflated tires cause uneven wear leading to replacement sooner than needed.
This is also the perfect time to check tire tread depth. Without sufficient tread, your tires can’t grip the road and could compromise your car’s handling in wet weather.
