6 AVAILABLE SAFETY FEATURES ON THE MINI LINEUP

When it comes to safety, the MINI is one of the best cars you can buy. While it’s known for its iconic look and reliable performance, it also comes with many features to keep passengers and pedestrians safe, ranging from its rigid frame to electronically-controlled handling. Here’s a closer look at some of the safety features in the latest MINI models.

1. ACTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM
A safety feature to help steer clear of hazards, the MINI’s brake assist system will help you stop faster in an emergency. Its predictive brakes can detect when you suddenly take your foot off the pedal, dry themselves when the wipers are on, and actively keeps body roll in check with a firm suspension. This minimizes the braking distance, giving you total control when you’re driving your MINI.

2. FRONT CRASH PREVENTION
The MINI’s front crash prevention system operates through a head-up display that identifies critical situations, such as pedestrians crossing, and immediately provides a two-step warning. The first step is alerting the driver, and the second is preparing the braking system and reducing braking time. Additionally, it can recognize traffic signs, support high-beam assist, and maintain your following distance with active cruise control.

3. ULTRA-RIGID BODY
Using high tension steel, the MINI has an extremely strong framework that is effective in reducing body torque. This makes the suspension collapsible but rigid, an important quality for absorbing and shielding passengers from impact. It also reduces vibrations, squeaks, rattles, and cabin noise.

4. THREE LEVELS OF CONTROL
Three different driving modes are available in the MINI to enable you to choose the level of control you want, so that you can stay safe in different situations.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) – detects if you’re veering slightly off course and then automatically applies selective brake pressure or engine power to the correct wheels to guide the car back on course.
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) – determines and applies the best possible driving force on every type of surface, including slick or sandy ones. It also restores power to the engine and lets the car slide a bit before correcting its course, adding some fun to driving.
Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) – functions when needed to prevent the wheels from slipping and spinning during aggressive acceleration and cornering.

5. EMERGENCY CALL
The MINI is potentially a lifesaver. It comes with an optional Emergency Call system that automatically sends a distress call in times of emergency to the BMW Group Call Center, providing details of your position and the number of airbags activated.

6. RUN-FLAT TIRES
With the MINI, there’s no need to fear a flat tire anymore. Run-flat tires can keep their shape when a puncture occurs. With heat-resistant rubber and specially reinforced side-walls, they let you drive up to 150 km at 80 km/h after a puncture, so that you can get to a place where you can fix the tire.

With its signature look, consistent performance, and advanced safety features, the MINI is a great car for driving both short and long distances. It is an ideal choice for those who want to play it safe on the road without compromising style and fun.
